Wall unit or ceiling cassette? Why the cleaning quote needs the right type

A mini-split cleaning price is only useful when it applies to the equipment in your home. If the bedroom has a unit on the wall and the kitchen has a panel in the ceiling, they should not automatically be treated as two identical cleaning jobs.

Mini Detailer’s published rates cover standard, accessible wall-mounted indoor units. Ceiling cassettes, concealed systems and difficult access require separate review. That review determines whether the requested service can be accepted and what scope, price and time would apply; it is not a promise that every type can be serviced.

Three configurations that can look very different indoors

Wall-mounted: the indoor cabinet is visible on the wall. Mitsubishi Electric describes its wall-mounted range as ductless indoor equipment. For a cleaning request, the visible cabinet helps identify the location, but the exact model and room access still need confirmation.

Ceiling cassette: the equipment is recessed into the ceiling, with its room-facing panel at the ceiling surface. Mitsubishi Electric’s ceiling-cassette descriptions show this recessed arrangement, including models designed to fit between ceiling joists. A ceiling panel is therefore a different equipment configuration from a cabinet attached to a wall.

Concealed ducted: the indoor equipment can be hidden, with air delivered through ductwork. For example, Mitsubishi Electric’s SEZ-NL description says this model can serve one or two rooms through a short duct run, leaving the intake grille and outlet vents visible. That is a model-specific example, not a rule for every concealed installation.

The practical implication is that counting visible vents may not tell you how many indoor units you have. Use installation records or ask the installer to confirm the equipment behind them. Do not assume every ceiling grille is a cassette.

Why the wall-unit rate does not settle the quote

Mini Detailer’s starting subtotal is $350 for one standard, accessible wall-mounted unit. The published volume schedule also assumes that service category at the same property. It does not establish a cassette price, a concealed-system price or a universal price per room.

“Accessible” matters even when the unit is on a wall. A cabinet above a staircase or crowded by fixed cabinetry needs its access reviewed. Likewise, a neat ceiling panel does not establish how the equipment behind it can be reached. These are questions to resolve before accepting a cleaning scope, rather than reasons to guess at a surcharge.

How to describe a home with mixed equipment

Separate what you know from what needs identification. A useful request might say: “Two wall-mounted bedroom units, plus one ceiling panel in the kitchen; kitchen unit type not confirmed.” This is an example of request wording, not a customer installation.

• Give each visible unit or uncertain ceiling location a room name.
• Include a confirmed indoor model from existing paperwork, if available.
• Describe stairs, fixed furniture or other access restrictions you can see from the floor.
• Say which units you want considered for cleaning and which still need identification.
