How to compare mini-split cleaning quotes: six questions to ask
Compare written mini-split cleaning estimates by included rooms, cleaning scope, access, extra charges and booking terms before choosing a service.
Two mini-split cleaning estimates can show different prices because they describe different jobs. Before choosing one, put the written scopes side by side. Your goal is to understand what you would receive at your property, including any conditions that could change the price.
You do not need technical expertise to make that comparison. The six questions below turn a vague service name into a useful purchasing decision. Ask the provider to fill in missing information rather than assuming an unmentioned task is included.
1. Are both estimates for the same indoor units?
Write the rooms and indoor-unit count at the top of your comparison. Ask each provider to confirm that list. A whole-home description can hide a missing guest-room unit, and a single outdoor compressor does not tell the provider how many indoor units you want cleaned.
For example, imagine one estimate covers the living room and main bedroom, while another also covers the guest room. This is a hypothetical comparison, not a customer job. The totals cannot tell you which offers better value until the included rooms match.
2. Which components are actually included?
Look for named surfaces instead of relying on “service,” “refresh” or “deep clean.” Ask about filters, coil, blower, drain pan and covers, and whether the work is limited to accessible surfaces. A filter-only service and an internal clean should appear as different entries on your comparison.
Mitsubishi Electric’s maintenance guidance treats filter care separately from professional work on indoor coils and blower wheels. A broader maintenance visit may also include tasks beyond cleaning. Our service-scope guide explains Mini Detailer’s inclusions and exclusions.
3. What assumptions could change the price?
Ask whether the estimate assumes accessible wall-mounted units, a particular installation height or clear floor space. Note any staircase, fixed cabinetry, ceiling cassette or concealed equipment before comparing totals. Ask what would happen if the provider arrives and finds that the assumed access is unavailable.
You should not have to dismantle a unit to resolve these questions. Describe the installation from a safe position and use existing model information if you have it.
4. What is the total, and who approves extras?
Separate the service subtotal, any applicable tax and proposed additional work. Ask whether an extra charge requires your approval before work begins. An estimate that clearly identifies an unresolved item is more useful than one that leaves you guessing about the final bill.
Mini Detailer publishes same-property rates and confirms scope, tax and approved extras before booking. Use the current pricing guide when checking the rate for your unit count.
5. What happens if cleaning is not the right service?
Disclose leaks, unusual sounds or changes in operation while requesting the estimate. Carrier identifies leaking, reduced airflow and strange noises as reasons to contact a professional. A cleaning price does not establish the cause of a fault.
Ask how the provider handles a job that needs a different assessment. Mini Detailer reviews reported concerns before accepting a cleaning; repairs, mold testing and remediation are outside this service.
6. What are the booking terms and completion record?
Ask when the appointment becomes confirmed, when payment is due, what cancellation terms apply and what written record you will receive afterward. These are questions for the provider, not promises that every company uses the same terms. Keep the final agreed scope with the eventual invoice.
A simple message to close the gaps
“Please confirm the included rooms and units, components being cleaned, access assumptions, subtotal and any additional charges. What needs my approval, and what happens if the equipment needs a repair instead? Please include your booking terms and how completed work is recorded.”
