Getting ready for a mini-split cleaning should not become another complicated home project. You do not need to learn how the equipment comes apart or clean it before the professional arrives.

The useful preparation is simpler: describe what is there, make the agreed work area accessible and leave enough time for the actual unit count. These details help turn a general request into a visit that fits your home.

Before a date is agreed

Count the indoor units and note their rooms. If you already know the brand or model, include it. Mention a high ceiling, staircase, fixed cabinet or furniture that limits access. A photo taken from a safe position on the floor can explain the layout better than a long description.

Let us know about existing problems as well. If there is a leak, an error message or a change in operation, the scope needs review before a routine cleaning is accepted. Cleaning and diagnosing equipment faults are different services.

Keep the equipment intact

Leave covers and internal components in place. Do not spray a household cleaner into the unit or attempt extra preparation beyond your manufacturer’s normal owner instructions.

Filter requirements can vary. Trane’s mini-split guidance emphasizes following the model’s manual and notes that some smaller filter elements should not get wet. There is no need to guess at the correct treatment before a booked service.

Prepare the space you have agreed on

• Move small, easily handled belongings from the immediate area below the unit.
• Point out artwork, delicate finishes, electronics or items that cannot be moved safely.
• Make the route to the room clear of loose items.
• Arrange for pets and children to remain away from the active work area.
• Have the unit’s remote or normal controller available.

Plan around the rooms being cleaned

Allow about 45 minutes of cleaning per indoor unit. This is a useful starting estimate rather than a guaranteed visit duration. Three units represent approximately two hours and fifteen minutes of cleaning, with access and other visit factors considered separately.

If you have a work call in one room or a guest arriving later, say so when arranging the date. Discussing those constraints early is easier than changing the scope after the visit has begun.

Know what will be confirmed
